Who writes this, how tools get tested, and how the affiliate stuff works.
Why this site exists
Most "AI tool reviews" are either press releases with a link, or 6,000-word lists written by someone who opened the tool once. I wanted the version I kept failing to find: someone who runs a real freelance business, uses these tools daily on client work, and tells you plainly what's worth paying for.
I'm a freelance product designer and automation consultant. Every tool reviewed on this site has been used on an actual client project or in my own workflow for at least a few weeks — not a free trial weekend.
How I test tools
- I use the tool for real work. If it's a writing tool, it drafts client deliverables. If it's a calendar tool, it plans my actual week.
- I track what breaks. Sync errors, missing features, export dead-ends, terrible mobile apps — all of it goes in the review.
- I check the money math. For freelancers, the real question is: does this tool pay for itself in billable hours? Every review answers that.
- I revisit after 30 days. The honeymoon phase is real. If a tool stops being useful after a month, the review says so.
I don't accept payment for coverage. Tools that want a review get the same treatment as tools that don't.
The affiliate model — transparently
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you sign up or buy through one, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions are how this site pays for its tools and its coffee; they don't change my recommendations.
What I will never do:
- Never recommend a tool I haven't used
- Never give a tool a good verdict because it pays a higher commission
- Never hide a link's affiliate nature
Every post has a disclosure notice at the top, and links that generate commission are marked in the recommendation boxes.
One clear recommendation per category
Each review and comparison ends with a single, unambiguous answer: buy this one, for this type of person. If the honest answer is "none of these are worth it yet," that's what the post says.
